Need help revising this and thinking of what more to write in this paragraph?

Close-mindedness can strongly affect the course of one's life. In the story, the author expresses her strong feelings of inferiority to her ancestors. The author gives her audience the insight of how she is feeling as a person at that moment. She refers to her neighbor as an “endangered species” who had a portrait on her wall of “the pale and dead men ancestors who had conquered Africa“, which every time Danza visits made her feel unwanted.
