Did my friend endanger a TRAIN?

Coins are made of soft metals like silver, gold, bronze, etc. Rails are made of high strength steel. Railway wheels are made of hardened steel. You could line coins up from Paddington to Reading and besides giving a slightly bumpy ride, they would do no damage at all. The fact that its the coin that is smashed flat should be telling you, which element is on the losing side.
